Can I check a step's result before the rest runs?
Short answer: Yes. Any step whose result you can see on the project page can be set to pause for your approval. The run stops there, you look at what the step made, and it continues when you approve it.
Every run pauses once for the script review. You can add more pauses of your own. Some kinds of project start with one already ticked (a tutorial pauses after the clean-up, so you can check the cuts before the script is written from them); untick it on the step if you do not want it.
Adding a pause
- On the project page, click a step in the diagram, for example Clean up or Render.
- In the settings on the right, tick Pause here for my approval.
- Run the project as usual.
The step now shows your turn, and the estimate line says that a step waits for your approval. You can pause on any step that makes something you can look at: the cleaned-up recording, the transcript, the script, the narration, the finished videos, captions and clips.
When the run stops
The run stops right after that step, before anything that follows. The page says whose turn it is and selects the step. Its Result panel shows what the step made, with an Approve & continue button. Approving starts the rest of the run.
If you are not happy with the result, change a setting on that step (or edit the cuts, the transcript or the script) and run again. Only that step and what comes after it are redone, and the run pauses at the same place for a fresh look.
Good to know
- Approving costs nothing. Steps already done are kept.
- An approval is of the result you saw. If that step is later redone and its result changes, the run pauses there again.
- Ticking the box after a step has already run only asks you to approve what is there. Unticking it lets the run go on. Neither redoes any work.
- The script review cannot be switched off: whenever a script is narrated or rendered, you see it first.
